Pasadena, CA
Pasadena Humane, founded in 1903, transitioned from aiding draft animals and children to focusing on companion animals. Its shelter, established on Raymond Avenue in 1914, grew over decades with expansions, including historic buildings, a wildlife center, and facilities for cats, dogs, and critters. Recognized as a Cultural Heritage Landmark in 1984, the organization now emphasizes progressive sheltering, prioritizing adoptions, exceptional care, and keeping animals in their homes.
